Memories of Bangladesh

"Rickshaws are a staple of life in Bangladesh, especially in big cities like Dhaka where every method of transportation is welcome. I have fond memories of visiting my family there, and seeing waves of rickshaws gracing the streets with their bright colors and poetic imagery."

A few months ago I created a 3D Model of a Bangladeshi Rickshaw as part of my Senior Thesis Art Project. In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and for the sake of public safety, the art exhibition was canceled, and most of our projects remained incomplete. However, I decided to follow through on at least one of the works I made. My hope in this project is to revisit the various memories that I have from my visits to Bangladesh and recreate the aspects that made it feel like a second home to me. I also hope to gain a deeper appreciation for my Bengali history, heritage, and culture: it has already proven a rewarding experience, as I was able to learn how to read and write Bengali to use on the Rickshaw. It was a pleasure to explore one aspect of my Bengali culture and I hope to make more models like this in the future!

I was honored to have this piece featured on the Rickshaw Art Archive: a website dedicated to archiving photos and art on

rickshaws all over Bangladesh.

Responsible for all aspects: design, modeling, and shading/texturing

Inspired by: my family (both here in America and in Bangladesh), my culture, and the many beautiful Rickshaws that ride through the heart of Bangladesh
