The Words Never Said

Out of the various projects I've worked on through college, this one stood out as the most emotional, healing, and therapeutic for me. In my Junior Year, I took a class titled Art 178: Game Design Methods in which students had the opportunity to learn about the gaming pipeline and create games of our own. The story I pitched was originally titled "Stages of Grief" and it was a deeply personal project that was inspired by own experiences. This is a story about a girl who recently lost her close friend to suicide and goes through the process of mourning and loss after the death of a loved one. The game consists of 5 stages or levels, each representing one of the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. In each level, it is up to the player to explore the environment to discover clues or hints on how to progress into the next room, and in the process, the player slowly learns more and more about story between the main character and her friend.

For this game, I was responsible for story, level design, prop modeling, set layout, basic shading and lighting.

DISCLAIMER: The music used in this game originally comes from "What Remains of Edith Finch" and does not belong to us. This game was made as a class project and will not be sold in any way to generate profit.

The game still has some rough edits being made to it but a playable version is available below. (Works on Mac OS and best played in Ultra Graphics)

This game is dedicated to my friend Brandon, and to all the words I never said to him...
